The Website
Most (if not all) of the pages on this site have been verified to conform to the strict XHTML 1.0 standard. This ensures the pages are formatted correctly and shouldn't confuse browsers.
This pretty much means that if the pages don't display properly, you need to upgrade your browser! - Or, if you're still using Internet Explorer, you should use something else (if you develop standards-adhering websites, you'll know why.)
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used for 99% of the formatting and layout.

Without the hard work of Theola Yuen, this site would look pretty ugly and be quite lifeless. She designed the layout for the site, and created all the nice graphics for this site - including the nifty rounded, shadowed corners of the content boxes (you noticed them, right?!)
Theola also spent a lot of time testing the pages, suggesting fresh ideas for content, and (when not looking for things to enhance the site) noting down bugs / things needing to be done. And ticking them off (hey, do I look like I have time to be ticking boxes?!)
DreamHost provide the hosting for this site. VPS-Link provide hosting for BladeCast live streaming.
A couple of very good books aided in creating the site, and even provided some ideas for small enhancements:
History
This site first appeared as a few pages hosted with CompuServe in 1996, under the name "The Great Goldcroft Archive" - named after the place I was living at the time.
In 1999, I changed ISPs and the site became hosted with FreeServe. Shortly after this, I registered the domain silverblade.co.uk through a company offering free domain names. The domain was tied to some pretty poor-quality hosting.
Eventually, the domain expired, so I was able to re-register it elsewhere and get some better hosting. The site has moved a couple of times since then, to bigger/better hosts.
Early incarnations of this site had next to no formatting. It looked like a Notepad document. When I discovered tables, I used them (borders included!) to lay out content. This looked quite horrid, so I looked at other sites and how they achieved their layouts, and managed to create one of the best layouts (next to this one) that way.
